JENNY BECK

Jenny Beck recently finished her undergraduate degree at the Peabody Conservatory where she studied composition with Michael Hersch, and computer music with Greg Boyle. Other mentors include Robert Sirota, Tom Benjamin, Steve Mackey, Libby Larson, Chen Yi, Melissa Hui, Allain Gaussin, Andre Bon, and Ladislav Kubik. She has attended the American Conservatory in Fontainebleau, France, and the Czech-American Music Institute in Prague. Ms. Beck is a recipient of two Peabody Career Development Grants, a Mu Phi Epsilon Summer Scholarship, 2nd Prize in the 2008 Prix D'Ete Composition Competition for Meditation on Torment and Triumph, and an American Composers Forum DC Subito grant.

RUBY FULTON

Baltimore-based composer Ruby Fulton (b. 1981) grew up in Northwest Iowa. Along with composer George Lam, she is co-artistic director of Rhymes With Opera, a new opera company committed to bringing new works of opera and music-theater out of the opera house and into unconventional spaces. Her music has been heard recently at the American Composers Orchestra New Music Readings, the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, the Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA, and the A•Devantgarde Festival in Munich.

YING-CHEN KAO

Ying-Chen Kao has received various commissions and performances by renowned musicians and ensembles including the Peabody Children's Chorus, Peabody Preparatory Dance Department, Michael Kannen, Donald Sutherland, Gary Thomas, Svetoslav Stoyanov, Benjamin Beirs, Tracy Anne Smith, Après Duo and AM/PM Saxophone Quartet. Ying-Chen’s solo guitar piece has been recently released on the album, “TRACY ANNE SMITH: Lilac.Star.Bird” in 2008. Ying-Chen not only focuses on composition but is also a graphic designer. In August of 2006 her graphic work, “Constellation of Voice” was used as the cover image for Carnegie Hall’s October playbill.
